New E39 540iA

Hi,

Indian Guy working in Amsterdam, unfortunately I don't speak any Dutch(Yet).

Big automotive enthusiast, love driving ( why else would I be here )

Have just purchased an E39 540iA. It's in not that good a condition, I suppose the previous owner was not very kind towards it. However, i'm planning to make it better.

Since I'm new here i'm not sure if there are any independent garages around Amsterdam/ Amstelveen that can work on my car ? I don't think giving it to BMW authorised service centre and paying extra money is very wise...but you guys can correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyone help me out with any good mechanics around Amstelveen area ?

I don't know any good garages in that area, i suppose Odijk (nearby Utrecht) is a little bit to far for you ?

Too bad the previous owner wasn't so nice to the car, but as i read this, i believe the car is in better hands now

Odijk is around half an hour away from my place, and I can easily go there for getting the car fixed. A quick google search for Autobedrijf Odijk gives me quite a few hits, any specific place that I should go to there ?

I've not yet taken any good pictures of the car, it's just 10 days old and in need of a good Wash and Wax treatment, which is planned over this weekend. I saw that there is a Showroom for the E39 forum here, i'll soon get some pics and open a new running thread there, updated as and when things keep getting fixed

I did take a gamble and took a small drive ( To Prague and back ). Boy does the car pull, on the unrestricted autobahns she is very happy cruising along at 180 with enough reserve for overtaking the slowcoaches

Loving the car as of now, waiting for it to get better, and I am now considering taking this back to India when I decide to go back.

And, about unrestricted autobahns, or higways, we don't have them The maximum speed is 130 here, and sometimes 120 or 100
